Most people think that oleander is the most poisonous plant on Earth. Every part of the plant contains poison, and there is more than one type of poison, just to make sure. Oleander smell lovely, so can attract animals to try and eat them so that they can kill. The poison in oleander is so strong that eating a leaf can kill you. People have even been known to get ill from eating honey made from bees that visited the plant!

One dangerous plant you might not know about is rhubarb! The rhubarb stalks are fine to eat – but rhubarb leaves are poisonous! That’s why supermarkets usually just sell the stalks.

A plant called Hemlock has historically been used to poison people. This plant contains a toxin called Coniine. This toxin causes your body to become paralysed, starting from your legs and moving up the body. Once your lungs and become paralysed you die. You would only need to eat around 6 leaves of the plant to get enough Coniine in your body to become paralysed!

Another deadly plant is called White Snake Root. This plant is so poisonus that you can die just by drinking the milk of a cow that has eaten this plant! The poisonous toxin in White Snake Root is called tremetol, and causes shaking, vomiting and death.
