This is a very big question!

a very short answer is YES.

an easy example are carnivorous plants, which trick animals into falling into their trap!

but even so, many plants have thorns or nasty chemicals which can cut or poison animals…and even us humans

Even rose thorns can be covered in fungi which can could make you finger become manky if you prick yourself on them. (trust me, it’s not very nice)

Two examples of poisonous plants which grow here in the UK are Hemlock and Deadly Nightshade. These look very similar to other plants people might pick!

Increasingly, even plants which are known to be safe to eat, even those which I look at in my work, are becoming more dangerous because of pesticides which are used to kill weeds or aphids. Some of these residues remain on the plants which we want to eat, and those pesticdes can be very dangerous to animals. This is a problem!

My advice is to never turn your back on plants,

At home I have a bok called “Wicked Plants” which has lots of examples of Plant Nasties, perhaps you woul enjoy reading about them sometime too 🙂
