  If I could create my own plant, the first thing I would do would be to think about what plant would actually be a great plant to be.
  
  I think I would make a plant that we could use to make food – and probably one that you could grow in your house so that everyone could help feed themselves cheaply. The plant would have to be quite small – small enough to grow in your house or garden. Ideally, it would need to taste nice – but also really healthy – so I can stop going to the gym! The perfect food from a plant would also be full of good nutrients and vitamins to keep us healthy. If the plant made berries it would be good – I like all types of berries, so I’d probably like these ones.
  
  A pretty flower would also be nice, so that when you grow it at home it makes your house smell and look nice. Maybe a few different types of my plant with different coloured flowers – then you can pick ones that look nice depending on the colour of your room!
  
  I’m not good at coming up with names though! Maybe the Berryflower? Bit obvious, but at least you’d know what you were eating!!

  I would definitely create a plant which contains something that’s very good for us, such as maybe an anti malarial compound so people could just eat it instead of taking anti malarial tablets, or something which people with HIV can incorporate into their diets instead of taking loads of medication!
  
  That sounds a bit far fetched but you did ask what we’d create so that’s in an ideal world I guess 😀 I wouldn’t worry too much about what it looked like as some of the most useful plants we work with in the lab look a bit boring until you get up close and appreciate them!
  
  Also I’m not sure there is just such thing as a ‘normal plant’ as if you find out in detail about pretty much any plant you’ll find there’s something really cool about them, for example how they’re pollinated or just a cool fact, they pretty much all do something!

  I would create a plant that provides food for people. There are thousands if not billions of people starving in the world at the moment, and this is often because people can’t afford to buy food, or are unable to grow it for themselves.
  
  The plant I create would be able to grow on really bad soil under really harsh weather conditions such as very hot and not enough rain. This would mean that people that live in countries where they can’t grow anything, such as Africa, would be able to grow my plant. I would also make sure my plant contained lots of nutrients in it that we need to survive, so that anyone eating it would get lots of vitamins they would not be able to get anywhere else 🙂
  
  The plant would be very green because it would contain lots of chlorophyll. The more chlorophyll a plant has the faster it is able to photosynthesise and the better it is able to grow.
  
  I would probably call it the Amelia Plant (considering I invented it and it is such a good name after all)
