I love plant science and find it fascinating, and it is definitely my first choice to study. I think if I didn’t do plant science, I would probably be working in medical research – working towards treatments or cures for different cancers, or other disease that have major effects on people in the world.

The other area that I am really interested in is sibling psychology – how brothers and sisters have different personalities. I am a non-identical twin, and, even though we share half our genes and grew up together, we are really different – I am a scientist, but she is an English teacher!!! I’d be really interested in investigating how our DNA and environment have different effects on how we grow up.

I have always been very worried about the natural environment and how we can try and conserve endangered species. The climate is changing and on top of this we are destroying lots of natural habitat like the rainforests in order to get resources and have land for farming and building on. If not more is done to protect the species that live in these places they will go extinct.

For this reason if I wasn’t looking at plants I would be studying ecology and conservation. This way I could do research into how different ecosystems work, and in what ways we can best protect them.

I am definitely very happy in the plant science section at the moment, I think plants are a lot more interesting than people think when they start learning about them at school! I ended up working on plant disease because it includes both of my two favourite science topics which is plants and disease!

If I didn’t work on plants and plant disease then I think I’d like to work on human infectious diseases. I find diseases such as HIV really interesting and think it’s amazing that even in 20 years we’ve been able to give treatment to people with this disease much better – and maybe/hopefully we’ll even find a cure one day!

Not at all! I like evolution and development in general… so i could talk about animals evolution and processes of complication but PLANTS ARE AMAZING!
They are except bacteria the best adapted organism on earth more than animals!! Almost all animals depend on plants to survive cause they are the primary producer of energy. Thanks to the sun the allow the entrance of mineral carbon in the organic life and feed almost all animals directly (herbivourous) or not (carnivorous that eat herbivorous). Us as human we completely depend on plants for food, home and almost everything in fact.
Plants cannot move from their habitat but because of that they have evolved more resistance to their environment and are more plastic ( this mean that they change form growing the organs they need when they need them). No animal possess this ability! Because of all of that I have always been fascinated by plants and probably will be forever!

I am enjoying working with plant’s, and if I have my way, I always will.

I have recently got involved with some teaching about Foods and feeding the world, this is discussed whilst joining politics and science. This has really got me interested in teaching, politics and geography too. Which I might combine with plants one day.
